Plumbing Apprenticeship
Richard Crook started his plumbing career as an apprentice with BEST. He gained all the relevant skills and knowledge that he needed during his apprenticeship with his employer, Airedale Mechanical & Electrical.
Richard was introduced into plumbing by his uncle, who suggested that he should get into the trade. Richard applied through BEST for a plumbing apprenticeship and after passing the necessary requirements he started on his chosen career path.
'I did not do too well at school and my uncle suggested the plumbing industry which I thought was a good idea. I enjoyed being on the apprenticeship as it worked out well with going to college 2 days per week, once in the day and once in the evening.’
Richard’s apprenticeship has worked out really well for him and has given him a lot of opportunities to progress within his career. He is now supervisor at Airedale Mechanical & Electrical, where he currently supervises, amongst others, BEST apprentices.
As Richard started his career as an apprentice, he feels that he can relate to the apprentices that he supervises and requests that they take their NVQ portfolios into work so that he can support and monitor them through their training
Mark J Nelson – Managing Director of Airedale Mechanical & Electrical said of Richard’s success
