BEST is committed to making sure you're safe and healthy during your apprenticeship, we have an excellent track record and before you even start with your chosen employer, we make sure your place of work meets our strict criteria.

You will be given health and safety induction training by BEST, and once you start work, by your employer. This will cover the company health and safety policy, site safety rules and safety and emergency procedures. Employers are also responsible for providing apprentices with the appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing (PPE&C), such as hard hats and high visibility jackets.

Once at work BEST will ensure that you are:

• Supervised at all times
• Have clear instructions on the equipment you can and cannot use
• Told about your personal responsibilities for health and safety

Once at work you must:

• Wear PPE&C provided
• Restrain loose clothing or long hair, remove jewellery or body ornaments to avoid being trapped in equipment
• Ensure illness and disability do not affect your ability to work safely
