Brett Mason has recently completed his level 3 Train to Gain / Skills Pay qualification in Pipe Fitting.

Brett heard about the Train to Gain scheme through his employer Daly Engineering. As the employer had previously used BEST to recruit and provide training for their apprentices at Dudley College, there was already good working relationship with BEST and their local Training Adviser.

The Skills Pay information provided to Brett and his employer by BEST was accurate, relevant and sufficient for the course. In addition, Brett’s BEST Train to Gain Assessor Steve Robbins helped Brett to complete his paperwork by providing an action sheet which supported his training whilst he was on the programme.

Brett was an ideal Skills Pay candidate as he had been working with pipe work and pipe fitting since leaving school in 1996.

“I left school in ‘96 and went straight into the pipe fitting industry. I learned the trade the old way and have worked my way up. I am really chuffed with the Train to Gain programme and what I can gain from it. Train to Gain is a very good scheme and I would recommend it to others in similar positions”

Brett received his Skills Pay qualification certificate in 8 weeks, as this is the time period required by City & Guilds to process the accreditation.
