National Vocational Qualification / Scottish Vocational Qualification

NVQs/SVQs are vocational awards gained through assessment of performance and knowledge at work. There are five levels of NVQ, ranging from level 1, which focuses on basic work activities, to level 5 for senior management.

Technical Certificates

Technical Certificates are qualifications assessing specific occupational knowledge and understanding, such as a BTEC National Certificate, delivered through off-the-job training. Technical Certificates are currently only available in England and Wales.
